Keeping your pictures ‘clean’

Firstly ‘Pinch punch first day of the month’ hehe *rolls eyes*

This tip only applies to people who are able to detach the lens from your camera.

From time to time It’s best to clean your sensor as if it gets dirty it will be shown on your photos! :(

When I say dirty I don’t mean actual dirt… Now that would be VERY bad :S, I mean tiny dust particals that land and sit on the sensor which results in horrible little black marks on your image.

Here’s an extreme case of a dirty sensor:

To clean your sensor I think it’s best to know what your actually cleaning, If you have your camera with you now, Go through the menu and try and locate the sensor cleaning option, This will lock up the mirror behind your lens exposing the sensor.

Now, At this point having the sensor exposed you want to be extremely careful not to let it anything get onto the lens, avoid touching it with your hands too.

There’s hundreds of products out there that you can use to clean the lens but a cheap alternative that will help for minor dust particles is a ‘Blower’.

You basically squeeze it and it shoots out air to blow the particles off, One more bit of advice, When cleaning your sensor either mount it on your tripod and point the camera down and clean it from underneath, This will help stop other particles landing onto the sensor.

Another way I’ve seen is holding the end of a hover above the camera whilst cleaning it as this will suck all the dust near the camera away.

Hope this helps!

Thanks
